We were learning about bridges and on Friday we designed and created bridges with various materials. We used spaghetti and masking tape, Lego and match sticks, lollipop sticks and glue, and Marla.
We learnt that there are 4 different bridge structures. A beam bridge was the most common bridge we designed and created in class. It was the easiest considering the materials we were using. One group made an arch bridge. The Marla was easy shape into an arch bridge. Another group designed a truss bridge but discovered it was too difficult to assemble in the given time. Another group thought of making a draw bridge but again they felt it was too difficult to mame in such short time. A suspension bridge was designed by one other group but again, it proved too difficult to create. Everyone enjoyed the activity and learnt valuable skills while working in groups. |
