Exciting NEW CSP 6-week multi-sports programme
Our school has been selected as one of 20 primary schools in the county to be invited to participate in a 6-week Multi- sports programme. The programme will include sessions in Athletics, Basketball, Cycling, Tug of war and Volleyball. It is starting on Thursday April 27th and will run for 6 weeks. Two coaches will attend our school for one hour to complete activities with pupils from 3rd to 6th class. Cumann na mBunscol boys' and girls' football competitions began last Thursday 20th April. The boys played Tunnyduff in East Knockbride GAA grounds. They had a terrific game and proved too strong for the opposition. Well done to all the boys for their effort and we look forward to playing Kilnaleck on Thursday 27th April in Crosserlough GAA grounds.
The girls played against a very strong Lacken team in Crosserlough GAA grounds. Lacken proved too strong and came out on top with a very high score. The girls play their local rivals Kilnaleck on Thursday 27th April in Crosserlough GAA grounds. Congratulations to Cillian Reilly who has been selected to represent County Cavan in the mini-sevens skills display during half time at the All-Ireland semi-final in Croke Park later in the summer. A brilliant achievement to represent his school and club on a very exciting occasion in the GAA calendar. Well done to Ellen, Neeva and Anna who represented their school in football and camogie skills competition in Breffni Park last week. This week we celebrated Friendship Week. The children participated in lessons where they discussed how to be a good friend and the importance of being kind to others. Teachers gave out kindness coupons to pupils who were spotted being kind during yard time. On Friday we concluded Friendship Week with a school assembly where the children sang two friendship songs they learned and prizes were awarded to those who won the design a friendship poster competition. Well done to all the pupils. They created some fantastic artwork with wonderful messaging on how to be a good friend. We had a fantastic celebration in school. There was singing and irish dancing galore. Pupils also played some tunes on their tin whistles and recited irish poems. Go hiontach! The pupils were amazing today. It was a great privilege to take part in a wonderful show. We hope you enjoyed the whole experience. Great memories were made and hopefully some of our pupils will aspire to perform in the Cross border Orchestra in the future. The pupils were a pleasure to take to the concert. Thank you to the families who were able to attend today's concert. Enjoy the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend.Thank you to all the families who participated in the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. This year our school collected sixty-two shoe boxes which will go to those in need and make someone's Christmas a little brighter.
Hard luck to all the girls who played their best tonight in a tough battle against a strong Butlersbridge team in Cumann na mBunscol Division 2 camogie final at the 3G pitch Breffni. A very exciting first half with only a goal and point between the teams. However Butlersbridge dominated the 2nd half with some powerful solo runs from their no.6. who kicked and pucked several balls into the back of the net. The girls gained great experience from playing in the final and no doubt they will be back next year bigger and stronger! A big thank you to Mrs Clarke and Geraldine for training the girls.
