We had a fantastic day at the Cross-Country running in Killinkere on Wednesday, 11th of October. The 35 children who represented the school did their very best against 200 other pupils in their races. We had 2 individual winners- Aoibhinn Farrelly came 2nd and Katie Hannon came 5th in the Junior girls 600 m race. We came 2nd overall which was a fantastic achievement considering we were up against 46 schools altogether.
Pupils in 5th & 6th class enjoyed a trip to Dreamspace in W5 Belfast on Monday, 16th of October. They participated in a 2 and a half hour workshop coding microbits. Afterwards, they were taken on a tour of Belfast City.
Our camogie team were unlucky to be beaten in Cumann na mBunscol final in Breffni Park on Thursday 26th October by their club team mates from Kilnaleck NS. They put up a great fight and played their hearts out. They should be very proud of themselves having won 4 games out of 4 to get to the final. On another day the result could be different! A huge thanks to Mrs Clarke and Geraldine for training the team and preparing them for the final. Thanks to the parents who kindly drove the girls to the matches.
Active Schools Committee
Come and meet the new committee who are willing to help our school stay fit and healthy.
Pupils from 4th,5th and 6th class were chosen to represent the school.
One of their first tasks this year was checking out what clubs the school children are involved in.
The results were so varied and we learned our children are busy in the evenings with swimming, football, soccer, horse riding, ballet, drama, camogie martial arts, gymnastics and much more.
Good luck to the new committee!!
In Crosserlough NS all students from 3rd to 6th will be taking part in the Accelerated Reader
programme, which is designed to do the following things:
In short, Accelerated Reader is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at his/her own level and reads it at his/her own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the computer. Accelerated Reader gives children and teachers, feedback based on the quiz results, which the teacher then uses to help your child set goals and direct ongoing reading practice.
Please click on the following link to find out more about accelerated reader programme.
Over the next few weeks we wish to increase the amount of books for pupils to read.

Thank you to our gardening club members for all their hard work this year.
5th and 6th class participated in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme this year facilitated by their teacher, Mr Andrew Galligan. They were tasked with developing their own business idea. The class chose to make an educational board game on the rivers and mountains of Ireland. The name of the game was “Rocks & Loughs”. The children sold the game to the pupils in their school and to other local schools. All support was greatly appreciated. The cost of the game was €5.
