Creative Schools is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme to enable the creative potential of every child. It aims to put the arts and creativity at the heart of children and young people’s lives. We were delighted to be a recipient of this award for the academic years 2018-2021. Our overall goal is to integrate creativity and fun into our approach to learning across all curriculum areas at Crosserlough National School. Below are some of the activities the children have had an opportunity to take part in, so far.
We had so much planned in 2020 but unfortunately due to school closures, we had to reschedule or cancel. We hope to continue integrating creativity in all areas of learning for the rest of the term.
May 2021
Mary Farrelly has started outdoor dance lessons with all classes. These classes will take place every Friday for 6 weeks.

October-December 2020
5th and 6th started working on photography with Colm Mullan (cinematographer) Due to restrictions, these lessons took place over zoom. Colm assigned the class various photography tasks such as exploring shadow interaction, angles, patterns and shapes. The class then started an introduction to animation. They began by designing story boards and then using stop motion app, put their story into action. This is an area that the children are looking forward to working on again! |
December 2020
All classes enjoyed a drumming workshop with Peter Crann from We drum Ireland. Mary Farrelly also completed a 1 day dance workshop with all classes. The children thoroughly enjoyed both activities. |
