the 8th of June. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class went on a school tour to Tanagh Adventure Centre in Cootehill. The Master, Miss Lynch and Mrs Galligan came with us.We arrived at Tanagh at 9.45. The staff greeted us off the bus. We started the activities at 10:00 clock. First we did Electronic Orienteering for half an hour. We were given a map, and a finger dipper. We were against the clock. Each time we found a number we pushed the finger dipper into the machine on the post. Claudia and Nicole came 3rd, Killian and Thristan came 2nd and Niamh and Jasmine came 1st. Mrs Galligan was on their team!!! Next we completed the low ropes obstacle course. It was great fun. We had to swing off ropes, go through a tunnel, balance on ropes and stepping stones and climb through tyres. Balancing on a log as a team was difficult but fun. After that we went into the old church to do wall climbing and archery. I preferred the climbing. I climbed half way up the wall. I felt nervous but it was good fun too. The archery was difficult. I didn't manage to score any points but I hit between the two targets!! We had lunch outside and a well deserved rest before we went canoeing. We got the bus to the river. We were all so happy. We did a warm-up before .We set off down the river in the canoes .When we got to the lake people jumped out of the canoes and we put a boat on top of the canoes so we jumped of it .It was very fun. After the canoeing we returned to the adventure centre to slide on the foam slide. The leaders sprayed water at us as we slid down the slide. I enjoyed falling and slipping on the slide. The last activity we did was picture orienteering. It was like the electronic orienteering except we used pictures as clues instead of numbers on a map. We had a great day in Tanagh. It was the best school tour ever!! By Fiona (3rd class) Fourth and Fifth class pupils from Crosserlough NS had the privilege of working with local artist Elena Brennan as part of Crafted Programme for schools. The pupils chose "The Celts" as their theme to inspire them to design beautiful creative pieces of art. Using copper wire was tricky but got easier as time went on. They plaited and twisted coloured wire to produce beautiful bracelets, rings and brooches. The final piece was created by the whole class. They each designed and created a symbol, shield and shell shape using all the techniques they learned. The individual shields and shells were joined together to form a large circle.Beads and diamanté were added to complete the unique design. Ireland's Crafted Programme gives schools an opportunity to explore their creativity and learn new skills by working with professional craftspeople in the classroom. Elena Brennan is a designer and producer of beautiful jewellery and she works from her home in Co. Cavan. The pupils and teacher in Crosserlough NS were delighted to have the privilege of working with Elena over the past few weeks.
