PE Homework for all pupils: May/June 2020Cavan Sports Partnership have created a ‘Virtual Explore Cavan Challenge’ so pupils can keep active and learn along the way. Please find resources below including; a map of Cavan with the towns and mountains/hills mapped out, a chart to be completed as pupils virtually make their way around the county and a sample letter to explain what is involved. 1,000 steps = 1km which can be covered by walking/jogging or running within the 5km radius and to climb a hill pupils must do Jumping Jacks, Skip or do the Mountain Climbers exercise – 1 of any of these exercises = 1 metre. We challenge you, as a family, to virtually explore as much of Cavan as you possibly can and tick what towns/hills you have explored on the chart as you complete them. The ‘Create your own’ section is an addition so pupils can make up their own, adjust their start point, calculate the distance and complete it, maybe adding the extra challenge of a climb. At the end of the 5 weeks a parent/guardian is asked to take a photo of the chart and email or send it to their child's teacher. We hope you all enjoy this activity!!

Dear Parents,
We hope that you are all keeping well and are following all the guidelines from our Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar and the HSE with regards to social distancing (keeping away from others as much as possible, 2 metres if possible), hand washing (properly and often), hygiene (cough and sneeze into your elbows) and staying at home. We hope you were able to enjoy the glorious sunshine we had for the Easter Holidays. All pupils received work from their teachers on the last day we were at school. This work was set up and organised for a three week period. We understand that it can be difficult to create a routine at home during these few weeks. Therefore, we have set up these pages on our website to help parents and children with their learning at home. Over the next few weeks we will continue to share appropriate websites, learning tools and resources on these pages to help pupils with their learning if they have completed their work assigned by their teachers. Click on relevant links that will bring you to the websites. Some teachers will assign their work and put up suggested activities on the class blog. Please keep an eye on your child's class blog for regular updates. Click on the link above to go to your child's class blog. Please do not feel over whelmed or pressurised to complete all the activities assigned by the teachers. Every family's situation is different. We understand if health and mental well being is prioritised. Teachers have included suggested timetables that might help to keep some kind of a routine. Again, use it if you think it might help! Please do not hesitate to contact the teachers using the emails they have provided. Please keep safe and continue to follow all the guidelines issued by the HSE and the Government. The Principal and Staff of Crosserlough NS. Lucy Harris, a teacher from Co.Dublin has kindly shared an excellent resource suitable for all children - 'The Great Isolation Activity Book'.
