Lifecycle of a butterfly

6/12/2017

The class read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and we learned all about the lifecycle of the butterfly. We have been looking after five caterpillars over the last number of weeks.
The caterpillars ate and ate and shed their skin several times before attaching themselves to the lid of their container upside down. Each chrysalis stayed attached to the lid and they were transferred to a butterfly pavilion for two weeks. There was great excitement among the children this morning when we saw four butterflies in our butterfly pavilion. There is just one butterfly yet to emerge. We plan to release all five during the week.
