5/22/2020

Science:
This week we are learning about the earthworm.
Earthworms do not have eyes, ears, teeth or a spine. When they move through the soil they eat all the dead plants.Their waste material is called castings and is full of nutrients that are good for the soil.Farmers love earthworms.Earthworms are strong for their size and can move stones out of their way as they burrow through the soil. They do not like the sun. They like the dark.Their bodies are soft and slimy. You often see them on footpaths after rain. They lay eggs. They hibernate in their burrows for winter.
Can your child re-tell four facts about earthworms?
Can your child name five other creatures they might find in their garden?
Can your child name any other creatures that lay eggs?

History:
This week we are continuing to develop the skill of prediction.
What might happen if the sky is full of dark clouds?
What might happen if the kitchen bin doesn't get emptied?
What might happen if teacher lost the school keys?
What might happen if everyone brought their pets to school?
Look at the cover of Diary of a Worm.
What do you think will happen in the story? What is a diary?
Predict first and then listen to the story.Your child can draw their favourite scene from the story.
